Aggregate is divided into coarse aggregate and fine aggregate. Different fineness have different applications. Coarse aggregate refers to the materials with above 5mm particle size. In the concrete, it is commonly plays the role of skeleton for sand, stone, also known as aggregate. Concrete commonly use two kinds of coarse aggregate: gravel and pebbles. Gravel is the rock particles with above 5mm after crushing and screening; pebbles is the rock particles with above 5mm after the natural weathering. Fine aggregate is a building material which is opposite to the coarse aggregate. It is a loose material with skeleton or filling effect in concrete. The average particle size is below 4.75mm. Fine aggregate, also known as mechanism sand. It can be produced by impact crusher or sand making machine to replace natural sand.
